Riyadh rivals Al Hilal and Al Nassr are both owned by Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF). And the 40-year-old is out of contract with Al Nassr at the end of June.

But when asked about a potential deal. Al Hilal CEO Esteve Calzada told BB: “We usually don’t comment on a player’s situation. Because our name is often used to help the player or his agent negotiate a salary with another club or to move.”

“It’s a strange market because the time frame is so short. You can’t make a decision just because of this tournament. And then have to live with the consequences for two or three years.”

“While I respect Ronaldo’s skills as a legendary player. It’s completely irrational to bring the greatest player of our rivals to play for us. Especially for a period of three or four weeks.”

“We tried to strengthen the team, but some players had a holiday attitude. Some asked for excessive wages, even though we knew that our team was already strong.”

“After the tournament, we will enter the normal trading market with the big goal of further strengthening the team.”

Meanwhile, Al Hilal, who recently appointed Simone Inzaghi as their new coach, will play their first match in the Club World Cup against Ronaldo’s former club Real Madrid on Wednesday night.
