Jose Mourinho says the love of Manchester United fans around the world means more to Sir Alex Ferguson than the £2million a year. He will no longer receive once he steps down as club ambassador.
Ferguson is set to leave his lucrative role at the end of the season. After new co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe decided to sever his contract as part of a cost-cutting scheme.UFABET
Mourinho was asked about the decision as he prepares to face United in his role as Fenerbahce manager in Thursday’s Europa League clash in Istanbul.
“My relationship with Sir Alex is great, incredible,” Mourinho said.
“When my documentary on Netflix comes out, you’ll know more about why I respect him so much.”
“The role of an ambassador. I don’t really know what the situation is, no matter why. Sir Alex has the most important thing. Which is the love and respect of all Manchester United fans around the world. That’s more important than any position or a few pounds he gets.”
I left with a good feeling to the club, with a good feeling to the fans and I want the best for them. So if things are not going amazingly well for them. It’s not something that makes me happy. But at the same time I have no time and it doesn’t make sense for me to be thinking about what happened or what didn’t happen.’
