Dominik Soboszlai’s football career

At youth level, Dominik Szoboszlai played for a number of clubs in his native Hungary, initially with Videoton, Phonik-Gold, Upest and MTK Budapest.

Before 2016, Szoboszlai played football abroad for the first time in his life with the youth team of Austrian side Liefering, a neighboring Hungary. Szoboszlai spent just one year in the youth team, making his way into the senior team in the 2017-18 season and making his professional debut at the age of 17, scoring 10 goals and providing seven assists in 33 matches in the Austrian 2 Liga.

His brilliant form earned him promotion to the first team at Söboszlai’s parent club, Red Bull Salzburg, the club where Söboszlai played that same season. Söboszlai made his debut for the country’s giants in a 4-0 defeat to Austria Vienna on the final day of the 2017-18 Austrian Bundesliga season. Despite his poor debut, he was part of the squad that won the title that season.
